So I’m still a bit new to this forum, but my first post was about how I’m a Catholic catechumen who is expected to be baptized, receive first Holy Communion and Confirmation on April 11th of this year. This is through my university’s RCIA program and I was super excited to finally enter the Catholic Church. Unfortunately, I don’t think that will play out as planned because of this stupid COVID-19 thing.
Nobody in the RCIA program, nor the Diocese of Washington, exactly knows what’s going on. Public Mass is suspended in nearly every diocese nationwide and many near me (Massachusetts/RI, not near the Washington Diocese) announced that they would be delaying First Holy Communion and Confirmation this Easter. Whether that will impact the Archbishop’s decision, we’ll see. Anyways, I still don’t foresee this vigil happening with current CDC warnings and I’m really bummed out about it because I love the Church and am so excited to receive the Eucharist.
Pray for the safety of me and everyone else awaiting initiation into the Church at my school and across the world, that they may receive His grace with or without the Sacraments, and pray for peace in my heart so that I can continue in good spirit and faith in this age of uncertainty.
