I am on Yaz because I have PMDD. From my understanding, so long as you were on it for medical reasons and not for the actual use of contraception, then it is alright. I thought it had to do with your state of mind. However, after reading the book that this site often reccomends, The Good News About Sex & Marriage, the question was asked:

“17. What if you’re on the pill for medical reasons? Is that still wrong?
If there were absolutely no medical alternatives for a married woman on the pill for terapeutic reasons, she and her husband would have to abstain from sex completely in order to avoid the risk of aborting their children.”

I had gotten off of the pill a while ago because I was afraid I would sinning by continuing it, the pain was tremendous and I had a period that lasted almost three weeks. I am now back on it again, because I thought if the intention was not for bc, then it could be used. Now I am not sure again. I want to do what is right, but I do not want to be told I can not take something to alleviate tremendous pain that affects me so severely.

Any response is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
