talian coma victim says heard everything

ROME (Reuters) - An Italian man who spent two years supposedly unconscious in a deep coma, written off by doctors as nearly-dead, awoke saying he heard and understood everything happening around him during the long ordeal, his family said.
Salvatore Crisafulli, a father of four, is describing his case as a “miracle” which proves that lost causes are anything but hopeless and his recovery appeared to strengthen the hand of Italians opposed to end-of-life solutions.
Even though the case is not medically comparable, his brother called Crisafulli “an Italian Terri Schiavo case” with reference to the brain-damaged Florida woman who died in March after her feeding tube was removed.

I 've just read the story about SAlvadore.So Awesome,thanks be to God.This takes me back to my mother.She had a anurism in her brain and went into a coma for months.When the offical doctor takeing care of her was off for a few days,the doctor that took over had convinced my brothers to take my mother off of all life supports.I would not sign the papers for this to be done.It was a big to do between my brothers and i.I was so relieved when the frist doctor returned.I spoke to him about the problem,he told me ,we never give up.He told me he had seen people come into the hospital vegetables and walk out of the hospital just fine.It took months for my mom to come out of the coma,yet she did come out of it.They said she wouldn’t be able to take care of herself.She surprized them all,she climbed up over the railing of her bed and walked down the hall.No ,she wasn’t ever the same again,yet she could take pretty good care of herself with assistence.She lived for many years ,till two years ago,when cancer took her.We had talked about where she had been when she was in her coma,she explained to me that she had gone down the hall and spoke to another patient ,in the heart wing of the hospital,he told her come on lets go,meaning to leave this world,she told him ,NO ,we aren’t going any where.My mother had no knowledge of where the heart unit was ,she explained to me how to get there.What she explained was totally correct.She also told me that she had spoken to the Virgin Mary,she had told my mom that everything was going to be okay.She reassured my mother that family members were going to be okay also.I miss my mom so much ,still i am thankfull God had given us those extra years to live here with us.Lots of Love,Freshwater
