I’m confused about why Pope Benedict interferred in an internal Italian vote. He asserts that the repealing of the Italian law would be inherently evil. However I don’t understand why the Catholic church is opposed to the Italian law. Can someone explain what is morally evil about the proposed repeal? It doesn’t seem to have anything to do with abortion or euthanasia. So why is the church concerned about it? Or are fertility clinics now banned too?
