Could we hear about some miracles of the last century, even stories that are not first-hand.

This one is about Brother Andre. Most of us have heard of the small frail illiterate man who was barely admitted to his religious profession in 1872. He was assigned the role of porter and doorman at a religious college in Montreal. Imagine his superiors’ surprise when God began to work miracles through him. Thousands were healed.

His order required him to memorize the Sermon on the Mount. He went beyond, learning to read and memorizing the Passion of all four Gospels.

As a child, I remember hearing older people talk about Brother Andre. One time my father told me that the Brother had visited our city and he knew of a case where a mother brought her child with a clubfoot to see him. The servant of God simply grabbed the foot and twisted it back into position and the boy was healed.

I had almost forgotten about these stories until last year when I made the full-day drive to Montreal and the Oratory for the first time. I even had my own prayers answered within the day of visiting.

The Brother died in 1937, and he was beatified in 1992.

Did you ever see the video on his life? You can get it through EWTN …I had to order it from the Oratory. My late sister-in-law was a distant cousin of his…I ordered a video for her too…It came 2 days after she died… We had been asking his intercession for her healing…She had been away from the Church for many years and came back shortly before she found out that she had cancer… I’m sure he was helping her!
