How do you answer someone who says we choose our denomination based on the lens through which we see things and, therefore, it doesn’t matter which we choose?

When driving on a freeway, I choose the distance between my car and the car in front of me, based on the lens through which I see the traffic around me. However, the distance I’ve chosen is vitally important: it can either save me or kill me.
The same is with spiritual life, except much more important! 👍

I would say that as long as the denomination the choose encourages them to follow the two great commandments then they are right, it doesn’t matter what denomination they choose.

I think this statement is partially true, which is what makes it dangerous. We do indeed see things through different lenses a large part of the differences between the Catholic Church and other churches and denominations may be a result of different lenses.

The problem is we’re both looking at one thing. One person might see a white barn and another might see a red barn, but it’s not possible for the same barn to be white for one person and red for another. In reality the barn is one color - one of the two people, or maybe even both of them, are looking through bad lenses. I’d strongly advise your friend to find the lenses with the proper prescription to allow her to see the truth clearly.

say:

“If you put on my lens, I’ll put on yours”.

and dont forget to do this:

😉

Even I know better than that.
