I've fallen and I can't get up

I have a problem. I just mortally sinned and I can’t recieve confession till seven days from now. What should I do? Also if I die anytime between today and then, what would happen to my soul? I want to go to confession, but availibility is very limited.

As soon as you sincerely confess with true sorrow, God hears and forgives your sin. In order
to receive the Eucharist you must make seek absolution from the priest in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

In the meantime, devoutly pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for yourself (offering it also for others who fall from the same sin) and trust in the Divine Mercy of Jesus.

God Knows Your heart & Your situation, I think You will be Ok, say good act of contrition, a perfect act of contrition is contrition because u have offended God, the other type of contrition is that You fear u will go to hell if U die with sin on your soul, make a perfect act of contriton, God will take care of You

But it is true…

What we cannot say is that at the moment of a person’s death they did not make perfect contrition.

We can say that in a state of mortal sin, without perfect contrition, a person would go to Hell.

The Church teaching is clear on this. If you are in a state of mortal sin but you make an act of Perfect Contrition but die before you get to Confession you will be saved.
If you are in a state of mortal sin and only make an act of Imperfect Contrition your mortal sins are NOT forgiven and if you die before you get to Confession then you go to Hell.

Purgatory is only for those who die in a state of grace (i.e. not in a state of mortal sin) but just need some cleansing.

A lot of people went with making a perfect act of contrition, so I believe that this is the temporary answer to my problem until confession. Also the Divine Mercy Chaplet seems good as well (as soon as I find it). Thanks guys. May God Bless your souls.

you have so many worries and fears. The Lord is a forgiving Lord. No matter how big your sin was, im sure that the Lord has forgiven you. I am not saying that you can repeat doin bad things over and over…what im saying is let go. The fact that you had the heart and realized that you have sinned means you are ready for renewal. Don’t worry about the past and just live your life to the fullest. Start a new life and pray that may you have the strength to avoid sin. If you think that you will die anytime, why not do good things so you dont have to worry about what will happen to your soul? if you have so much time doing other things, why you dont have some time to go to confession? i am in china right now and the city where i am in has no church and no priests because majority is not catholic and i am really hoping and i would really like to go to confession but there is no way…you are blessed because you can go to priest anytime you want…take the chance…there are so many people who wants to go to church and confession but has no chance…think about it

I also suggest praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet. It is a wonderful devotion and Jesus literally gave it to sinners from the bottom of His Heart.

Note: If you don’t have beads, don’t worry, you can still pray the Chaplet. But if you want to be on the safe side, you can pray the Prayer for Daily Neglects.

You don’t understand the concept of perfect contrition. I suggest you read your Catechism.

If a person has perfect contrition- that is he repents of his sins and is truely sorry out of love for God- he will be saved.

If a person has imperfect contrition- that is he is sorry only because he fears the fires of hell- he will not be saved (unless he makes it to confession before death).

This is not merely a “technicality”, it is a truth, defined by the Church in her teachings.

Contrition

1451 Among the penitent’s acts contrition occupies first place. Contrition is “sorrow of the soul and detestation for the sin committed, together with the resolution not to sin again.”

1452 When it arises from a love by which God is loved above all else, contrition is called “perfect” (contrition of charity). Such contrition remits venial sins; it also obtains forgiveness of mortal sins if it includes the firm resolution to have recourse to sacramental confession as soon as possible.

1453 The contrition called “imperfect” (or “attrition”) is also a gift of God, a prompting of the Holy Spirit. It is born of the consideration of sin’s ugliness or the fear of eternal damnation and the other penalties threatening the sinner (contrition of fear). Such a stirring of conscience can initiate an interior process which, under the prompting of grace, will be brought to completion by sacramental absolution. None of you are doing anything productive by assuring this person of their forgiveness. If a person is in a state of mortal sin, they SHOULD fear for their salvation, this fear is “a gift of God, a prompting of the Holy Spirit.” It prompts us to return to the Church through the Sacrament of Penance. The only person who knows whether or not it is perfect or imperfect contrition is the OP himself (or herself), not you.

While it is good to be deeply concerned about our salvation when we sin mortally, we need to balance this with the remembrance that God desires the salvation of each of us, more than we could possibly desire it for ourselves.

Thus if we are through no fault of our own unable to go to confession (and I would also suggest that the poster contact her priest to see if she can’t make an appointment sooner) we should not create a ‘bogey-man’ image in our minds of a God who is hovering over us just waiting to strike us down at our most vulnerable so that He can exploit the fact that we haven’t been able to make it to Confession in order to damn us.

While none of this means that it’s impossible (or even especially difficult) for sinners to go to Hell, it should give the sincerely repentant reason for at least as much hope of salvation even if they cannot make it to confession, as fear of damnation.
