IYO: How significant are words like "IF" in the bible?

How important {if at all} are words like “IF” and other conditional teachings in the bible?

I guess it would really depend on the context. I like to look at multiple translations and then compare the Greek or Hebrew word to see how it has been translated other places.

The point being that a translation might put more emphasis on a certain phrase that might be softer in the original or a different translation.

Depends on the usage.

“If we say we have no sins, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”
Essentially, a cause and effect.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins…”
This is more like a quid pro quo. Forgiveness requires repentance / confession.

It seems to ME [personally here] that it is precisely MISSING the "If’s{ {conditional teachings] that permits to many personal understandings of what can in reality only be singular truths:

For example where in the bible does it teach that GOD ever permitted belief in more than

One True Faith

My dear friend in Christ, I’m a bit puzzled, but VERY GRATEFUL for your overcoming your reluctance to respond to me as thousands of Catholic and Christian believers have over the many years of my association with CAF.

The issue for us Catholics is not that non-Catholics do not, consciously at least disbelieve the One +One + One equal “3” {the truths of the Blessed unerring Trinity} and the actual indisputable reality of what that actually means. Not by implication, but even though common logic. …. Rather it is that they seem {literally} incapable of comprehending its true and actual meaning and its implications applicable to salvation issues.

NO, I am not saying one has to be a Catholic to be saved, and that is NOT what the RCC teaches [our Catechism: 1260, 846-848}. I AM saying though that as the One TRUE, desired, and Christ founded Church and Faith that we [practicing] Catholic do have by virtue of the SEVEN Sacraments’ a Far better chance of actually attaining our salvation. …. WHY?

Because God in order to be GOD has to make final judgment upon each human Soul based not on one’s subjectively chosen faith-beliefs; RATHER it will be based on WHAT HE THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS MADE POSSIBLE FOE EACH SOUL TO KNOW, ACCEPT AND LIVE.

Father John Hardon, one of the most respected Theologians of the 20th Century taught this, which explains this prevalent non-Catholic-condition of NOT Understanding it:

“TRUTH IS THE CONDITION OF GRACE, IT IS THE SOURCE OF GRACE, IT IS THE CHANNEL OF GRACE, IT IS THE DIVINELY ORDAINED REQUIREMENT OF GRACE”

It other words without GRACE, right understanding is an impossibility. Right understanding can with humility and prayer be sought & granted by the HS.

Isa. 55:6-8 “Seek ye the Lord, while he may be found: call upon him, while he is near. Let the wicked [THE UNGRACED] forsake his way, and the unjust man his thoughts, and let him return to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God: for he is bountiful to forgive. For my thoughts are not your thoughts: nor your ways my ways, saith the Lord”

My friend, common LOGIC can on its own, with GRACE discern the true and complete significance of of One True God, Faith and Church which are all historical and biblical as well.

Perhaps I can better explain as the OP

The "if’s Buts;, and’s [ect]. are GOD IMPOSED conditions for RIGHT belief; right understanding as are words, like “YOU”, which very often implies exclusivity. When missed or glossed over they can easily lead to a confused understanding of the authors GOD inspired & protected teaching.
