James Brown died today of pneumonia in Atlanta at the age of 73. God rest his soul. my heartfelt condolences to his family.

ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) – James Brown, the dynamic, pompadoured “Godfather of Soul,” whose rasping vocals and revolutionary rhythms made him a founder of rap, funk and disco as well, died early Monday, his agent said. He was 73.

Brown was hospitalized with pneumonia at Emory Crawford Long Hospital on Sunday and died around 1:45 a.m. Monday, said his agent, Frank Copsidas of Intrigue Music. Longtime friend Charles Bobbit was by his side, he said.

I remember seeing him in concert when I was younger 🙂

Yeah, it’s been all over the local news here, because he’s from the same city as I am.

I wasn’t a fan of his, but he loved this city, and this city loved him. Just a few days ago, he was downtown passing out Christmas gifts to kids. It won’t be the same without him.
 
I saw on the local news that he had suits custom made for many years by a tailor here in Cleveland. He was a very talented man who will be missed by many. I will pray for him.
