I met up with some protestant friends over the weekend I have not seen in a few yrs. One of the discussions that was introduced to me was the topic of the flat earth theory, which caught me off guard, and was making a lot of sense…until I dug into the counter arguments the next day. A part of the whole theory is the cover up by atheist, NASA, and yes you guessed it the Jesuits and the Vatican. Without going into more detail about the proposed theory and conspiracy does any know of or posses any solid counter arguments to this silliness/heresy?

The best counter is to just show them video from the ISS. The earth is clearly round
 
They have been lead to believe it is all computer animation like a video game. I have the flat earth theory about flattened with the questions I have researched that are difficult to counter but I would like good rebuttals on the false attacks they have been lead to believe about the Church
 
Well here’s a thought, the sun is round, the moon in round. The planets in our solar system - Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto the dwarf planet are also round.

Why oh why would earth be flat?

According to the flat earth theory there are no other planets, they are just lights in the sky. Look it up they actually do a good job of selling it until you read the counter arguments.
 
Too true, my telescope tells me that the moon is round. Not a light dot in the sky

Those cagey Jesuits have been covering up the fact that the earth is flat?

Have any of the flat earthers tried just walking to the edge of the flat earth to check it out?
 
If someone has a set disposition not to accept something then no evidence will be enough that distrust cannot deny it.

Why is converting them important to you?
If they want to live a limited life it is their choice.

You live yours according to your own lights which are also at least as equally valid…which they cannot gainsay either.

Google Jesuits erase flat earth. The conspiracy theory coverup has multiple videos. It appears to be a folktale that spread… And nobody can get to the edge of the earth because it is Antarctica all the way around. Nobody is allowed to go that far. According to flat-earthers NASA and other atheist along with the evil Vatican are aware that the earth is flat and the sun and moon rotate around the earth but want to deceive people be into believing the earth is round and we rotate around the sun. They are all working together to hide the truth…Crazy stuff. The conspiracy all falls apart though once you dismantle the flat earth theory.
 
Well, it is a little different from the new geocentrists, who maintain that the earth is a globe–but it is stationary, does not rotate on its axis, and the sun, moon, planets, galaxies, and the entire universe rotate around it every 24 hours.
 
I agree… One of them is a good friend, whom I talked with much when she was single when we had similar theology when I was a Protestant. I know she thinks clearly but her hubby appears to be one of these people that is energized by hidden conspiracies, and she has bought into it.
 
According the theory the stars are just lights and Antarctica is the edge of the earth
 
We know the earth isn’t flat simply because the cats would have had everything pushed off the edge by now.
 
Why is everything a Jesuit conspiracy? Give the Benedictines and the Dominicans SOME credit!

Apparently I’ve misunderstood the basic planetary concepts of Astronomy all of these years, then…

Now I know what’s really going on out in the Universe…

I am walking upside down of course, in Australia, underneath the North, on the flat earth…digging to China

But just you guys wait till the pole flip, best you get hat bands in preparation!

They think atheists conspired with the Vatican to hide the truth about a flat Earth?
I would begin by asking: “Why?” What have any of these ‘conspirators’ got to gain by this?
 
From them: 35 lunar craters are named after Jesuit astronomers. From the 1650- 1900’s they have been going around preaching the heliocentric story. Also Copernicus was in tight with the Pope and he came up with the heliocentric model and so the reason they came out with this model is because protestant theologians were against it for biblical reasons. And Roman Catholic leaders were pressuring Copernicus to come out with the heliocentric model, which is against scripture then condemned Galileo less than 100 yrs later. They say it does not make any sense. Then they go on to say that the reason for this was to decrease confidence in the scriptures to increase confidence in the papacy.
