Jesus a shade of other religious myths?

I really don’t want to watch a 10 minute video :(. I’m going to assume that this is the same stuff about him being a repeat of Horus and all that other. Christ is completely different. There wasn’t another God that had a virgin birth (at least by the accounts of the major myths, there might be side myths but the commonly accepted ones don’t assert this) Horus’ mother Isis conceived with the dead body of Osiris. Horus did not die. Osiris died but never came back to life. It is similar to him being undead. That is why he is ruler of the dead and lives in the underworld. None of the others died by crucifixion at the hands of the Roman empire. While Osiris died at the hands of Set, he was tricked into it and Set was a God. No other myths have their Gods walking to their own death and then waiting three days to rise. There is also no account for the Holy Spirit. There would be need for a Father God, and a need for a Son to enforce it, but where would the Holy Spirit come in relation to other myths?

Really, the Judeo-Christian religions were revolutionary. No other religion was as revolutionary. The Bible stated that God created the world out of nothing, compared to the greeks who believed that in the beginning there was chaos and stuff to form the world out of. The Bible said in Job that God hangs the world on nothing while other beliefs thought we were on the backs of a turtle. No other belief system told us to "take up our cross’ and to accept suffering. This was in contrast to Buddhism which was based around running from suffering. To say that we are a copy of the same old religions is foolish and wrong.

There are a lot of resources on this site, and on the web if you google.

However, if you would like a really good exposition of this read G.K. Chesterton’s “The Everlasting Man”. Goes through it in a unique way and enlightening but subtle style.

Yes. I also strongly recommend this book. There is also a great audio version available at Itunes or audible.com.

C.S. Lewis’ “Miracles” also touches on this subject. The God of nature versus nature as god.

Stumbled across this video and more like it while browsing through youtube. I honestly would not know how to respond to this…could someone point me in the right direction?

This video contains a bunch of baloney… Here´s a link to a Christian website that shows that the myth anti-Christians like to spread of Jesus having been invented by being given the characteristics of pagan Gods is just that an anti-Christian myth.

When I saw the first example of the god Horus who supposedly was born the same day as Christ… Dec. 25th I had to roll my eyes at the fact that people are too lazy to research the truth.

God bless
