Jesus and ET film

Having watched this film numerous times with my kids, does anyone else see numerous connections with Jesus, the glowing heart, healing and the ascension at the end three of many.

Not at all. I see a movie about nothing but a cute alien trying to find his way back home and his telekinetic bond with a young boy.

Wow that is so cool, no never thought about that. He also talks about ascending to “HOME” I would guess that it is all a coincidence. Stephen Spielberg was probably not thinking much about Jesus, and if it was intentional, they would have been talking about it.

Actually, I read somewhere that Spielberg put certain things into the movie intentionally. One was that when ET first appears to Eliot, the storage shed has a light shining down on it as though it were the manger at Bethlehem.
