I sure would love to know what kind of scholarly work has been done lately that disproves the Exodus!
It is hard to disprove that the exodus happened. But you can show that there is a lack of evidence that it did happen. There doesn’t seem to be any archaeological evidence that it happened…and chariot wheels in the red sea does not prove anything.

You really can’t expect me to take you seriously with a flippant response like that, do you? 😦

Extensive research has found artifacts in the Gulf of Aqaba which correlates extensively with the time of the Pharoah and careful study of the region actually lines up with the Biblical account of the Exodus. You can try the following links for starters:

Here is an extensive video on the subject (there are several parts) youtube.com/watch?v=xJXUv_btg60&feature=related

Here is a verbal explanation: wyattmuseum.com/red-sea-crossing.htm

Now, let’s not hijack this thread. You never answered the questions that people posed to you above. I’m seriously interested to hear how you perceive yourself to be Christian while saying that you don’t believe in the Divinity of Jesus.

I guess I really have no problem saying that I am not really Christian.

Okay. Then I will admit that I’m scratching my head over the original pretext of this thread; namely, “Jesus’ brothers.” That seems like such an inconsequential thing compared to questioning the divinity of Christ.

It sure sounds like your going to school for their religious studies program has created more questions than it’s given you answers. Unfortunately, that seems to be the norm these days.

Archaeologists will readily admit that most of what happened in antiquity did not leave an archaeological record. And seriously, if you read the events recorded in Exodus and Numbers, what “evidence” would you expect to find? A few wells, maybe? And what proof would link them to the Israelites? Nomadic peoples don’t leave evidence, that doesn’t mean they don’t exist, whether you’re talking about Beduoin today or Mongols a thousand years ago or Israelites three thousand years ago.

That’s why historians give significant weight to oral histories, epic poetry, placenames and other linguistic “evidence” of ancient events.

When I was in school, scholars like your professor were proclaiming loudly that the Davidic kingdom never existed. There are plenty of books out there that are still in print, postulating that the lack of archaeological evidence proves the great king was a legend. Of course, there’s this awkward little thing about a stele that was found in the early 1990’s…

A little well-informed humility goes a long way in the search for truth - but isn’t often rewarded in academia.

HelloPeople – I have to apologize. I had thought you started this thread, which is why I made the comment above. It was started by someone else! Mea culpa!
