Truedave said-“Jesus taught, “Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword.” (Matt 10:34). This sword, I believe, is the sword of truth, the sword of His Word, which is opposed to evil peace. However, it seems from Scripture that if the “prince” who is “God’s minister” is to use his literal sword “not in vain,” then he is to do so justly, so as to aim at peace, and so they are not opposed to peace, except to the evil peace referred to by Christ in Matt 10:34.”
I have been given to understand that by the sword, Jesus meant was the sword that will be held against true Christians for their belief.
