Has anyone heard or been told that in the beginning, Jesus understood his mission to be only for the renewal of His own people, while his followers subsequently understood it as intended for Gentiles as well. And that the Canaanite woman in Chapter 15 of the Gospel of Matthew was the point where Jesus started to understand that His mission was to all the peoples.

I saw this in a Biblical commentary and was wondering if anyone had an opinion on it. Thanks all for any (name removed by moderator)ut.

When Jesus came into this world because of the Hypostatic Union of His two natures united in One divine Person He was always aware of His divine mission, to redeem mankind from the works of Satan, To endow us with Grace, His Holy Spirit making us adopted children of God from His very birth. Salvation came from the Jews. I believe His intent was to deal with His own house first, the Jews, and in the process through the Apostles to spread the gospel to the four corners of the earth. I never thought that Jesus learned things through phases, but allowed himself to go through phases of learning like we all do, it was His humanity and not His divinity. You might say what He did in His humanity was concurrent
with His divinity. He always knew His Mission, but manifested it in His Humanity in phases.
Scripture does relate that when He was found in the temple preaching as a young boy, He returned home. He grew in wisdom and grace, and waxed strong He became like us in all things except sin. But He was always God-man. When He was found He said "Do you not know I must be about my Father’s business?
