Jesus in the Eucharist

How come when we receive Jesus in Holy Communion, one drop of Him does not wipe out all of our sinfulness of our heart at once and we only build up our strength in Him over much time and receiving Holy Communion over and over again?
 
Much the same way hanging out with a group of friends may wear off on us, but we don’t literally become exactly like them because we have free will.
