Is it proper to call Jesus our older Brother? If God the Father is our Father?

No.
We can call each other brothers and sisters in Christ.

Thistle,

Actually, I must disagree with you. Romans 8:29 speaks of Jesus being the firstborn among many brothers and is referring to Christians as these brothers. It’s not something you hear about very often. There are a variety of relationships between God and people–Christ and the Church are husband and wife, the Church is the Body of Christ, God is our Father, and this is one of them.

Actually yes, and your reasoning is sound. In Christ, we have become adopted sons of God, and therefore brothers of Christ by adoption as well.

Hence, the Morning Prayer hymn of the Church in the Liturgy of the Hours: “Christ is the world’s light, he and none other. Born in our darkness, he became our brother.”

I still say we are brothers in Christ and not of Christ but I’m not stuck on that position necessarily.
If people are going to call Jesus our big brother then what do we call the Holy Spirit?

I like the idea of Jesus being our brother. Makes His sacrifice even more personal, to think He is my brother, my flesh and blood.

I am glad the question of the Holy Spirit came up I have been meaning to ask: Isn’t He the Blessed Virgin Mother’s spouse?

yes I “believe” that is what I;ve heard from Scott Hahn …or did he say that the HS is the love, the bond???

The Holy Spirit is the bond of love between the Father and Son.

However, when we talk about the Trinity we say Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and not Father, Big Brother, and Love??!!

Wow lots of “opinions”!

and

some funny ones too … such as …
