Hello,

I was told I can pray the Jesus Prayer on the Rosary because I do not have a prayer rope. Is there a specific way I have to recite it with a Dominican Rosary?

Thank you.

I, too, would like to say the Jesus Prayer on my Divine Mercy rosary…

I just picked up a 33 bead Jesus Prayer chaplet. Jesus lived for 33 years. However, I don’t really use it much.
I often say the Jesus Prayer without any type of beads in my hands.
The focus is on the breathing, whether using Jesus Beads, a regular rosary, or just walking
The goal is focusing on Christ. When I did own an actual set of Jesus Beads, given to me by an abbot, I would often go into the contemplative state. The goal of praying the Jesus prayer.
Breath in on the first part of the prayer while fingering the bead, “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God.”
Move to the next bead, as with the praying the rosary, while breathing out, “Have mercy on me, a sinner.”
No beads. Breathe in “Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God.” Breathe out “Have mercy on me, a sinner.”

There’s nothing special you have to do to pray the Jesus Prayer on a rosary. A rosary or a prayer rope is simply a tool for counting the number of times we pray the Prayer.

As a suggestion, many people will say the prayer “Most Holy Theotokos, save us” on the “Our Father” beads.

This is a little off topic, but when I received my first rosary, I found myself at Adoration without a written copy of the Rosary prayers. I ended up reciting verses from the Bible as they came to mind. It was interesting to see how one verse would trigger another.

There is a Mozarabic tradition similar to the Jesus Prayer. Instead you say Deus miserere.

Thanx for the link @ziapueblo, I learned the Jesus Prayer
after the Orthodox tradition, noting that they repeating over
and over again until it becomes a mantra. We Catholics
address this by the Kyrie-eleison “Lord, have mercy”, One
of the KEY things the devil doesn’t understand is MERCY!

I like the shorter version: Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me.

How about the Fatima prayer in the Rosary?
“Dear Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from
the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, esp.
those in most need of Thy Mercy”.
