Is it acceptable to use a rosary ring to pray the Jesus prayer? Perhaps start off on the cross with Apostles’ Creed, then Our Father/Hail Mary/Glory Be, and then Jesus prayer on the ten knobs?

Beads of any sort can be used for rosary praters, chaplets, or Jesus prayers. Is it acceptable to use a rosary ring to pray the Jesus prayer? Perhaps start off on the cross with Apostles’ Creed, then Our Father/Hail Mary/Glory Be, and then Jesus prayer on the ten knobs?![]()
Nope. Todo bien. Thanks for bringing this up, Mycosil. Since we’re on the topic, is there any reason a Roman Catholic couldn’t practice the Jesus Prayer or the Prayer of the Heart?
Out of curiosity, have you ever heard of any Catholics becoming really, really dedicated to that practice?Nope. Todo bien.

I never have, but I’d love to discover someone who wrote or spoke about it in a Catholic context.
Oh hey, thanks a million Clare!
Oh hey, thanks a million Clare! That’s exactly the kind of information I was hoping to find. Several years ago I considered tackling The Philokalia just because I was interested in The Jesus Prayer. It seemed like I would have to seriously immerse myself in Orthodox theology and history because that’s such a heavy, complex work, and it would have required a lot of time and study. I was happy reading The Way Of A Pilgrim a couple times, and I wanted to just keep it simple. So that link is a big help to me, because it keeps things in a Catholic framework.
No reason in God’s green Earth. Thanks for bringing this up, Mycosil. I think it’s a good question.
