Hi,
I just thought of something and wanted to know if someone can answer it for me.

When Jesus was reading the scribes in the temple(which may of been the septuagint at that time) why did he need to read from them. If he is God then he would of known without using them as it is his word.

Jesus was fully human. His divinity cannot be seperated from his humanity. He was fully God and fully man.

Jesus was subject to everything humans are subject to. He had to have is diaper changed by Mary, had to be fed, had to learn to walk, to read and write, and had to be taught.

Jesus was not born with knowledge of everything in the universe, including the scriptures.

Personally, I don’t think it would be unreasonable to think that Jesus had this particular Scripture passage memorized. Even so, that wouldn’t make the scroll unnecessary. I have certain passages memorized, too, but if I were reading them at Mass, I wouldn’t forgo the Lectionary and just go based on memory.

There were many things Jesus might have done because of his knowledge, but he was there to teach about salvation and that was central to his focus, and to avoid any distraction that might make people redirect their attention. He always did things for a purpose, and never to show off.

The scriptures were on scrolls which unrolled. So when scripture was read, the reader would take the proper scroll and unroll it untill he saw what he wanted to read. Then he read it.
That was the way it was done. So Jesus did it the way it was always done.

Just some thoughts.

“May we help the church convey witness to the saving gospel, bearing fruit of faith today.” (hymn)

When Jesus was reading, he than interpaed what it meant,so people could understand it bettter.
