Jesus the Father?

Hello! Is it okay to call Jesus the Father? I do think it’s wrong but someone pointed to me Isaiah 9:5 (v.6 in douay) For a CHILD IS BORN to us, and a son is given to us, and the government is upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counsellor, God the Mighty, the Father of the world to come, the Prince of Peace.

in NAB it says Father-froever

I wouldn’t do it, because it causes confusion. “Now, which Father our you talking about? Our Father? Or Father of the World to Come?”

Yes, it is fine. You can also call the holy spirit “Father” as well as they are all the same person. Only Jesus has a name as he is the greatest but both his father “The father” and him (Jesus) “father” and the holy spirit “Our Father” can be called father.

Which is why we say, “In the Name of the Father, AND of the Son, AND of the Holy Spirit”.

YES! Remember Jesus is God and God is Jesus, the holy spirit is God and the holy spirit is Jesus. They are all three one person and yet all seperate. The three are ONE! Thus according to the holy triinity there is no problem calling Jesus Father (or the father Jesus for that matter). If you do it is best to explain though to avoid confusion.

Yes exactly Jesus the FATHER and GOD the Father are both three persons (with the Holy spirit of course) but ONE NATURE so Jesus nature as the father and the father’s nature as the father is the same nature. So there is no problem calling Jesus father because his nature as father is the same as the father’s nature as father. They are not the same person but they are the same nature.

This is still incorrect. It is never okay to refer to Jesus as Father, whether or not they have the same nature. What you describe in previous posts in this thread is actually a heresy called “modalism”.

The Trinity teaches that there are three distinct Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, that are of the same divine nature (also termed “one substance”, “consubstantial”, “one in Being”, etc). This does not mean that they are one Person, because the way that they are Three (Personhood) is completely different from the way that they are One (Nature/Being). It is incorrect to claim that the Son is the Father because they share the same Nature, because they are distinct in Personhood (i.e. the attributes that really distinguish the Father from the Son from the Holy Spirit). It was the Son that Incarnated, not the Father. Jesus did not pray to Himself, He prayed to the Father.

It is also incorrect to call the Son or the Holy Spirit “Father” because the Catechism of the Catholic Church quite clearly tells us that this is false:

254 The divine persons are really distinct from one another. "God is one but not solitary."86 “Father”, “Son”, “Holy Spirit” are not simply names designating modalities of the divine being, for they are really distinct from one another: "He is not the Father who is the Son, nor is the Son he who is the Father, nor is the Holy Spirit he who is the Father or the Son."87 They are distinct from one another in their relations of origin: "It is the Father who generates, the Son who is begotten, and the Holy Spirit who proceeds."88 The divine Unity is Triune.
