Jesus, the Third Temple?

Hello.

As I’ve looked more into Judaism, there is apparently
the expection of a third and final temple to be built by
the Messiah Who is still awaited.

Then I thought: Jesus said: “Destroy this temple,
and I will rebuild it in three days.” [Note the numbers:
3rd temple…three days.]

I must say, that gave me pause.

I will be happy to take this question to a Jewish forum,
if that is deemed appropriate.

Any thoughts, observations?

I have an additional question on the seeming lack
of a concept of “redemptive suffering”, but that can
wait or, alternately, be taken to a Jewish forum.

I thought footnote #15 was
interesting, ie. three days= a short, indefinite period of time.

I don’t see the link(beyond coincidence) between 3 days and the 3rd temple. As to your 2nd comment, I’m reading a good book right now, written by a Jewish Catholic that deals with redemptive suffering. It’s called Salvation Is From The Jews. Very, very interesting and very well written.
 
I always believed that when Jesus said “I can destory this temple and rebuild it in 3 days” it was a comparative remark, reference, precursor, etc., to His own dying and Resurrection. That’s the significance of the 3 day remark.
 
Think of it this way:

Because of Jesus’s death and resurrection we will never need a Third Temple. Christ’s sacrifice on the cross replaced the temple sacrifice. Jesus is the eternal sacrifice, the eternal temple! What some Jews hope for, a restoration of the sacrifice of the temple, we have (and more!) in Jesus Christ.
 
I could look it up, but I think there is a statement that Jesus will rebuild the Temple in the Book of Revelation. I may be wrong…

Jesus is the Temple.​

Christians are the living stones who are being built up into a holy temple.

And this temple is also a Body - so no Third Temple is needed, since it is done away with in Christ, along with the Levitical priesthood and the rites given to the Jewish Church. The Letter to the Hebrews is the place to look for the details about this. ##
