i found of recent a few things jesus said in the bible. some contradicting, others didn’t make sence. i was hoping you could explain these sayings to me
  1. jesus says in the bible not to call people fools in matt 5:22, however in matt 23:17 he calls a group of people fools?
  2. did jesus ever encourage the beating of slaves? in luke 12:47 i believe is the verse which says so.
  3. the world is 10,000 year old?
  4. and lastly when he was regarding his own truthfulness. he gives two contradicting answers… in john 5:31, and lastly john 8:14.
could you please explain some of these things to me? that would be nice.

have a merry christmas my friends. and thankyou for answering previously on my threads. you have all been of great help. and hopefully. i will soon convert to catholicism soon.
God Bless,

Jesus never said how old the earth is. The entire Bible is silent on that. Of course we do know that it is around 4.6 billion years old.

*Matthew 5:21-22 "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.*Jesus is going through three levels of injustice toward a brother. Many manuscripts include the phrase “without cause” after the first use of “brother”. Augustine notes this below (see also footnote “b” here). These 3 levels of verbal murder are sinful insomuch as they are without cause.

Augustine.: In all these three sentences there are some words understood. In the first indeed, as many copies read “without cause,” there is nothing to be supplied. In the second, “He who saith to his brother, Racha,” we must supply the words, “without cause;” and again, in “He who says, Thou fool,” two things are understood, “to his brother,” and, “without cause.” All this forms the defence of the Apostle, when he calls the Galatians fools, though he considers them his brethren; for he did it not without cause.:o
