Why does Jesus say important things then give his follwers strict orders not to spread what he said?

‘Peter answered, “You are God’s Messiah.”
Then Jesus gave them strict orders not to tell this to anyone’

Luke 9: 20-21

I´m not sure but I believe the answer is in Luke 9: 22

He didn´t want the apostles to say it to everyone else just yet . He didn´t want to incite false hopes in the people who were hoping for a different kind of Messiah.
 
Yes, His time had not yet come…I also think it’s quite fitting…they weren’t going to tell anyone He is the Messiah until after He completed His work–that way they could tell the whole story 👍
