Yes, and while we are at it, we should get rid of the Father’s Day Walrus. 😛

Isn’t it rather self-defeating for Catholics to complain that there are lots of unbelievers, & then to do things that help to obscure the message they are trying to make known ?

Sorry Gottle of Geer, I agree with your post 100%. My sense of humour is sometimes a bit unclear but I thought my choice of Smilies would give it away. Mea culpa. 😦

I never supported the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus and always made sure my kids knew what Easter & Christmas was really all about. I am also unpopular with my condemnation of Halloween being relegated to what it has become instead of being celebrated as the Eve of the Feast of All Saints.

To put it briefly, the Easter bunny has nothing at all to do with the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is a purely secular symbol, just as Jack o’ Lantern has nothing at all to do with All Saints Day from a strictly Christian perspective.

People don’t have to celebrate Easter if they don’t want to. Why would they conplain bout the easter bunny if they can avoid the holliday altogether? Don’t expect the “easter bunny” to bring you candy if you don’t celebrate easter.

I’m speaking to the fact that the Rabbi equates Christmas trees with the religious observance of the birth of Christ. He wants to put a religious article, a menorah, next to a non-religious decoration that is put up in homes of Christians *and *non-Christians. If he wants to see a religious item, like a menorah, added to the display then I want to see a religious item like the creche (which depicts the scene in Bethlehem) on display. The articles that I posted mention that Christmas trees, menorahs and Kwanzaa candles are all displayed together without disturbance elsewhere across the country. The irony is that the only religious article on display in such a circumstance is the menorah. I don’t understand why he, or you, see the menorah as equivalent to a Christmas tree. How about a Christmas tree and some sort of display with white and blue lights and garland? That would be more equivalent to a tree. This whole thing is really silly. Thank God our country is prosperous and peaceful enough that people like the lady in Walnut Creek and the Rabbi in Seattle have so much free time on their hands.
It’s called a christmas tree for a reason. just because the Church doesn’t put its official stamp of religous symbol on it, doesn’t make it less of a symbol for Christmas. It is probably the most popular and well known symbol for Christmas in existence. Certainly in the U.S. Let’s not play games regarding the status of a christmas tree.

in Ireland St Patricks day is a holy day

Why doesnt everyone just let people celebrate their own way

But Easter Bunny to Spring Bunny is the same as changing Easter to Spring Break in the schools. That while the easter bunny doenst actually have anything to do with Christ the world thinks he does.

Its just more chip chip chipping of Christianity.

But take heart in the end they could burn all the trees and bury all the bunnies, but Easter and Christmas would still be there. All us whos in whoville would still be singing the praises of our King. 😃

I just heard this morning that in a city 3 miles from where I live a Jewish man as well as a women complained about the fact that the city uses the Easter Bunny term for a yearly egg hunt, so now the city decided to name it the Spring Bunny instead.

Easter Bunny Is Out In Walnut Creek

What’s next? Banning the Christmas tree?
that is awkward! there are alot of people banding christmas trees already it makes me sad to see christmas trees go away:(
