If you’re talking bible evidence, I would say Moses founded the form of Judaism from which modern Judaism emerged. Archaeologically of course, there is no evidence for the existence of Moses and Abraham, as far as I know

@meltzerboy2, care to help out here?

Or should it be David and Solomon? The Samaritans believed in Moses but wouldn’t call them Jews, would you?

As I understand. It comes from the oral tradition that is passed down from Abraham and the Divine Revelation that Moses received.

from what I understand the Samaritans at one time held to the Law of Moses and were part of the ‘Chosen people’ from the oral tradition. They were adulterated by successive invasions of pagan nations that installed kings that introduced their own religious practices. The religion of Samaria, once pure became an abomination to the Jews.

Edit to add: so the Samaritans might be said to be Judaic in practice but not Jews. Jesus may have considered them Jews since He revealed to the woman at the well that He is the Messiah she was waiting for. Spoke very plainly to her. Interesting to note that He also used a Samaritan man in a parable as a ‘good neighbor’

When was Judaism/jewish/israel founded…From Abraham or Moses??
Abraham is the Father of the Jews, but the name Israel comes from the time Abraham’s grandson Jacob wrestled with God (Genesis 32).

Although Moses is the Law-giver and the most important prophet in Judaism, the patriarch of the religion is Abraham.
