I have read that the Jewish relationship with the RCC has been severed because of the personal thoughts and reflections of one of our bishops, BUT was that relationship not already in tatters after B16 had decided to reinstall the prayer for the conversion of the Jewish people at the Easter mass?? Was the relationship ever in good condition if one member of that relationship must walk on egg shells always considering the over sensitivities of the other member… there is a popular phrase for that these days “an abusive relationship”. If indeed the Jewish people (whom I had a healthy respect for before this display of media mobilization) are interested in a relationship of sorts with the RCC then we must be treated as equals… or better still CONVERT. If you want to be friends then jump in with the eternal winners. But after B16 re-instated the Easter prayers for their conversion guess what was reported in the Italian media “50 years of RELATIONS ruined”.
And in case you suddenly went blind

Are these people who are involved in ecumenism with the body of Christ really interested in good relations with us or are they more interested in controlling the other member of this “relationship”??? With “friends” like this who needs enemies.
It looks to me like the people who are involved in this “relationship” are always looking for the back door, or a route to pressure the other
could this be because we have involved in the ecumenical movement catholics of such uncompromising doctrinal rigidity that the smaller party feels pressured to shout all the louder
This catholic thinks not.
Sooner or latter people will have to accept that we are different because our belief systems raised us differently and although we have lots in common, there is lots we differ on, which begs the question who and what does this episode benefit, and who in our “relationship” will have the upper hand. I use the term “upper hand” because this is not a “relationship” based on equality but rather one of benefit and in such a “relationship” (in worldly thinking) there is always a looser.
