No, not that Jezebel.

A popular woman’s magazine responded to the American Life Leagues outrage over the Krispy Kreme “freedom of choice” debacle.

“The American Life League has finally discovered the secret, immoral ingredient that makes Krispy Kreme doughnuts so very addictive: fetuses. … Freedom isn’t really free, people, it takes thousands and thousands of aborted, dried up and reconstituted fetuses to make a single box of Krispy Kremes, and the American Life League is determined to stop this abomination!”

I encourage everyone to please, please go to their website (jezebel.com/) and tell them how disgusting and disrespectful they are.

Why would anyone GO to that website - you give them yet another hit and make them more money.

Because flooding the Web site with bad press - and you can post comments PUBLICLY - will take money away from them.

No, it won’t. They make money from their advertisers based on hits. If you want to hurt their pocketbook, don’t go there.

When you have people posting public comments condemning them, how many advertisers do you imagine will bother with them?

Few.

I don’t think so. First of all, there are people out there who agree with them. By linking to them and giving them hits, you give them a higher rating on Google (they’ll come up earlier in searches). That makes it easier for people to find the website.

Plus, website advertising isn’t like television or radio advertising. People sign up for services, which then project banners. You can’t put pressure on those advertisers like you can on a television program, because its second and third party, and in all likelihood, those companies don’t know and don’t care whose websites they appear on.

Lujack is right web ad dollars are all about hits. Ad buyers don’t know and don’t care if the hits come from interest or rage.

I thinking two things:

1). You can post public comments that do no await moderation, so I imagine even if advertisers don’t see what you’ve said, regular people who might frequent them often will, realize how disgraceful they were, and not go there again.

2). Perhaps if enough people go after them, they might find a conscious and apologize.

Grand hopes - maybe.
