Ok, so this is just something that I would like to know more about. Now, I have been told via the news and such of the reasoning behind why certain Islamic factions believe that terrorism will pay off in heaven, but I was wondering what the people here knew.

I am asking this, not to start a war on the forum, but to try and gain some form of understanding. Thanks.

terrorism is completely banned in Islam… infact Islam set up one of the earliest code of war which is in my opinion better than most so called human rights law out there…

you cant harm women, kids, old people, civilians, someone thats tied up, someone asking for mercy you should give him mercy, you cant burn down crops, or places of worships (cept idols during the time of the Prophet (pbuh), you cant kill monks/religious figures, you cant be the attacker, only defend, you cant kill prisoners, unless they go thru a full trial and fighting is the absolute last thing you should do… i also read somewhere that if you are in another persons land and you are at war and you have a prisoner who belongs in that land, you have to feed them first before you feed yourself…
hope this helps

Thanks! It does help, and I really like the information. So, the question is…why do the extremists out there think that by killing inocents that they will find a place in heaven? By this, I am asking what they are looking at and interpreting to justify their behavior.

Again, I really appreciate your comments!

no problem…
they have a warped point of view… i dont think that they think killing innocent will get them to heaven…rather they think that the people they are killing arent innocent… i dont know if you are understanding or not… basically anyone associating themselves with the west = enemy…and enemy of them is supposedly enemy of Allah…thats how they look at it i am guessing…

Muslim,

Does the salafi concept of takfir have something to with the issue? Just curious.

i am not too knowledgable about salafi concept of takfir but there are common links between salafis and wahabis. i am myself is confused about those 2 groups…
all i know is that I am a Muslim, i follow the 5 pillars, follow the Qu’ran and hadiths.
unfortunately, my religion has been hijacked by diff. people who represents maybe .0001% of the population.

dhimmitude.org/d_history_jihad.php

The relations of Muslims and non-Muslims were set in a context of a war: jihad. Its justification by Qur’anic verses and hadiths provides to jihad, the war against non-Muslims, a theological base. Jihad establishes a single pattern for relations between Muslims and non-Muslims and is central to their relationship. Jihad can be examined at three levels: its doctrine, its institutions, and its historical manifestations.

The ideology of jihad encompasses a doctrine aiming at the Islamization of the world, supported by military institutions and tactics of war, all being considered as binding the Islamic community (umma). Jihad represents the Islamic worldview of war and peace, it constitutes a specialized domain of Islamic theology and law.

Jihad doctrine divides the peoples of the world into two irreconcilable groups: the dar al-Islam (the land of Islam) and the dar al-harb, (land of war) the non-Muslim world, destined to come under Islamic jurisdiction either by the peaceful conversion of its inhabitants, or by armed conflict. Jihad is the permanent state of war of the dar al-Islam against infidels until they submit to Islamic domination. Peace is accepted only temporarily according to circumstances. The institution of jihad regulates the conduct of war according to religious rules.

IN A SUSTAINED, century-long rampage that would have wowed Rommel, the Prophet Mohammed and his successors beginning in A.D. 629 conquered not only Arabia, Persia, Syria, Egypt, and North Africa, but also branded the crescent of Islam on lands formerly within the fold of a Christian Roman Empire then in ruins.
