I was privileged to see him perform a few years ago, before his most recent special/DVD. Humor and appropriateness are both rather subjective, of course, but there was nary a four-letter word to be heard, and nothing that I can imagine an adult man being scandalized by. (He did a joke about the Food Network being like “porn for hungry people”, but that’s about as racy as it got.)
I would see him again, if the chance presented itself. Go for it! He’s really funny and (to me) clean.

Jim Gaffigan is hilarious and mostly appropriate. His ‘Beyond the Pale’ DVD is 85% about food which isn’t really all that racy I think you’d probably be fine.
