John 3:16 Translations

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

I have read online that when speaking of “world”, people say that it’s actually translated to “elect”. So, John 3:16 actually states that God only loves his elect. Is this right?

You should read all these to see that Gods love and Mercy is for EVERYONE and not only his elect.
P.S That translations is wrong they can not prove or give a passage in scripture or any were else that it means ELECT.

The word in questions is “cosmos” - which you could construct as being even bigger than just “the world” - but certainly not smaller. Whoever told you it means “the elect” reads even less Greek than I do. . . .
