When did the passage in John 6 occur? 3 months?, 6 months before the last supper? he did announce he is the Bread of Life before the last Supper right and then instituted at the Last Supper.

Whereas the Last Supper is THE institution of the Eucharistic sacrament, it is unclear whether the miraculous feeding or feedings on the mount (there may have been two – Matthew features two, Mark features two) – may have been actual Eucharistic consecrations, nonetheless.

Compare what Jesus did when He fed the thousands miraculously…

1a-and he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds. Matthew 14:19.

1b-Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, gave thanks, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds. Matthew 15:36.

1c-Then, taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to (his) disciples to set before the people; he also divided the two fish among them all. Mark 6:41.

1d-He ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground. Then, taking the seven loaves he gave thanks, broke them, and gave them to his disciples to distribute, and they distributed them to the crowd. Mark 8:6.

1e-Then taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing over them, broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. Luke 9:16.

1f-Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to those who were reclining, and also as much of the fish as they wanted. John 6:11.

…to what Jesus did at the Last Supper…

2-While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Matthew 26:26.
