The ‘believed’ word in Greek is πεπιστευκόταις pepisteukotais. It’s a perfect participle that describes an action that was completed in the past that still has a continuing or permanent effect in the present. Translated in a very roundabout way: ‘Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him in the past and now continue to believe in him in the present’.Thank you for tagging me, Tis, but this question is way above my pay grade. I leave it to our real kosher Greek specialists, such as @Bithynian and @OddBird.
