JOHN EDWARDS HIRES TWO ANTI-CATHOLICS

Catholic League president Bill Donohue is demanding that presidential hopeful John Edwards fire two recently hired anti-Catholics who have joined his team: Amanda Marcotte as Blogmaster and Melissa McEwan as the Netroots Coordinator. Here’s why:

“Writing on the Pandagon blogsite, December 26, 2006, Amanda Marcotte wrote that ‘the Catholic church is not about to let something like compassion for girls get in the way of using the state as an instrument to force women to bear more tithing Catholics.’ On October 9, 2006, she said that ‘the Pope’s gotta tell women who give birth to stillborns that their babies are cast into Satan’s maw.’ On the same day she wrote that ‘it’s going to be bad PR for the church, so you can sort of see why the Pope is dragging ***.’ And on June 14, 2006, she offered the following Q&A: ‘What if Mary had taken Plan B after the Lord filled her with his hot, white, sticky Holy Spirit,’ to which she replied, ‘You’d have to justify your misogyny with another ancient mythology.’

“On November 21, 2006, Melissa McEwan said on AlterNet that ‘some of Christianity’s most prominent leaders—including the Pope—regularly speak out against gay tolerance.’ On November 1, 2006, on her blogspot Shakespeare’s Sister, she referred to President Bush’s ‘wingnut Christofascist base’ when lashing out against religious conservatives. On February 21, 2006, she attacked religious conservatives again, this time saying, ‘What don’t you lousy motherf—ers understand about keeping your noses out of our britches, our beds, and our families?’ Currently, the very first entry under ‘Greatest Hits’ on her website [where she brags about being appointed to Edwards’ campaign] is titled, ‘On C—s’. In her article she boasts that she is the ‘Queen C— of F–k Mountain.’

“John Edwards is a decent man who has had his campaign tarnished by two anti-Catholic vulgar trash-talking bigots. He has no choice but to fire them immediately.”

 yeah, those people are really sick. Imagine if they had made those comments about Judaism or Islam.

‘wingnut Christofascist base’
hahaha

I found that quite funny. I was a little shocked at first. This has to be one big joke.

That poor soul. God, give her faith.

The things that these two women said about God and the Blessed Mother is beyond appalling, shocking, and bad taste.

Please be warned that the link has some incredibly vulgar text and innuendo.

I wish our Most Blessed Mother would appear and stand before the two of those women, and just stare at them for a while. I wonder what they would write then?

Must be yet another example of the Democratic Left’s idea of “tolerance”, “diversity”, and “multiculturalism”.

I believe these two women have had their services ‘dispensed with’, have they not?

One has, I know; I don’t know about the other one yet.

I do know, however, that I won’t be voting for John Edwards. (Not that I had planned to anyway.)

Secularists hate the Church. There’s a war going on. Our task is to gain as many members in the Lord’s army as we can. Don’t despair. God is with us.

Mr. Donohue is really a joke. Why does Edwards have “no choice”? It’s a free country. These people have exercised the right of free speech.

Donohue plays a cynical game, exploiting the ludicrous conventions of political correctness in order to try to shut down critics of Catholicism. Surely Donohue is sensible and orthodox enough to know that the whole game is revolting and nonsensical?

These two women are disgusting. And it’s pretty appalling that John Edwards didn’t immediately fire them. If comparable comments had been made about almost any other group, these women would have been fired right away, and there rightly would have been profuse apologies from Edwards. This guy just ruined his campaign.

This is what I received from the Catholic League this evening as an email:

SECOND EDWARDS STAFFER QUITS

Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented today on news that Melissa McEwan has quit the campaign staff of John Edwards:

“One of Yogi Berra’s most famous quips is, ‘It’s not over till it’s over.’ I have news for John Edwards—it’s over.”

Oh, I don’t think it’s over.

Somehow they’ll put a positive spin on it, just like Obama is saying that he should be President because his lack of experience will make him a good President.

Obama doesn’t bother to tell us exactly HOW his lack of experience will make him a good President, other than to hint that he will “change Washington.” Yeah, right, and I’ll lose a hundred pounds by the end of the week.

When the Australian president criticized Obama’s proposed Iraq War policity, Obama didn’t bother to respond to the criticisms. He merely said, “I’m flattered that the Australian president noticed me.”

What a side-stepper! As the song in “Best Little Whorehouse In Texas” says, “Ooooh, I’m gonna dance a little side step!” Fits Obama to a T.

It could be that Edwards is the Democrat’s sacrificial lamb to make Clinton and Obama look more appealing and help everyone not notice their glaring flaws. Whenever anyone asks Clinton or Obama a real question, they will draw the attention away from the question and toward Edwards’ “hate-campaign.”

Of course, I’m not excusing the Republican candidates. I’m still not sure what I think of Guiliani’s attempts to woo pro-lifers. The man was a hero in NYC after 9/11, but right now, I’m thinking of a beautiful cobra swaying back and forth waiting for me to try to kiss it. Then it’ll strike.

Here is a slightly longer thread on this topic.

Edwards should never have hired those two without vetting them for offensive comments. As for firing, it might have been a good idea to allow them to publicly retract what they wrote, and to apologize for giving offense. If the two refused to do so, then firing or asking them to leave the campaign would have been necessary.

Firing them would have been rather two faced of him, wouldn’t it? I’m sure he knew all about them when he hired them. They appeal to the hard left base of the Democratic party. The young, energetic lefties who read and write blogs such as this, and will be out poinding the pavement to get their guy elected. Why aren’t people like Sen. Sherrod Brown(D-Ohio), who ran an ad on Pandagon all last year, facing the same scrutiny? The John Kerry for Senate committee is running an ad there right now looking to hire staffers. Where is the outrage?

I know for a fact that a one-time Pandagon blogger (who has moved on) went to 12 years of Catholic school, including a pretigious Jesuit High School.:crying: These people need our prayers, that they will see the Truth.
