Join us at the new Catholic Scripture Study Website Scripture Discussion Forums, moderated by yours truly. If you or someone you know is looking for a safe place to discuss the Sunday Gospel readings from an orthodox Catholic perspective, this is the place. Each week (starting on Wednesday) I’ll be posting a new study where you can come and go at your own leisure (but you’ll have to bring your own coffee and donuts!)

This week’s discussion will be on the Gospel reading for the Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time, Cycle C (Luke 6:27-38).

Come join the discussion to share and learn!

Fidelis:

I just registered LATE Friday Night for your Website so I know you won’t get around to “enrolling” me until Saturday morning.

If you could read and post the following:

Archbishop Fulton Sheen wrote that our Lord Jesus, in His Sermon on the Mount and on the Plain is laying the groundwork and preparing the discisples for the paradigm that would make His sacrifice for sinners on Calvery both possible and necessary.

Remember, before Jesus’ death on Calvery reconciled us to God, we were all enemies of God, every last one of us. Jesus was not asking us to do something he hadn’t done or wasn’t in the process of doing Himself.

The other thing is that, love of countrymen and friends is good enough to produce the kingdoms of the world, but to Transform this world and produce the Kingdom of God, we need the Transformative power of the Love of God that Loves those who hate us and gives without expecting return.

The way to the Kingdom of God is through Golgatha. And, where he went, we have to go too.

Your Brother in Christ, Michael
