Aquinas and Augustine are no lifelines, that I know. We were discussing Joyce Meyer, I never said no such lifelines exist in the Catholic Church. Father Jacques Philippe, Jean Vanier are Catholic lifelines.
Then what advantage does Meyer have over Philippe or Vanier? I can tell you one disadvantage: the danger that she will counsel heresy or error of faith. This danger is very real among Catholics who like to listen to random Evangelical preachers. It is possible for some people to listen to heretical preachers without damaging their faith, but for the vast majority of us it is not a good idea. Once again, why are you eating cotton candy when you can have steak?

I don’t know of any reason you should not post these links. There is no rule against it.
There is if the links the poster posts are slanderous, bear false witness, and can’t be proven, non-Catholics are no exception. Nobody deserves to have untruths posted.
The only rules that I can find are
Encouraging “swarming” of other forums to engage in debate of anti-Catholic postings there
Links to blatantly anti-Catholic sites, except as a valid reference point for discussion

I listen to Joyce Meyer periodically. I find her to be inspirational and well grounded in the scriptures. I have no idea what her degree is in. She does not make claims for or against any denominations that I know of.

She is not the Pope, a bishop, a Catholic theologian, or a priest, and I know that. She does not speak to me with Catholic authority, nor does she claim to. I merely find some of what I have heard edifying. Do I recommend her at RCIA? Of course not.

She is a good speaker and in some respects she listens to the needs of the people which is a lot more than some Catholic preachers do. This world needs people who are willing to listen to people’s concerns. I wouldn’t say she has absolute authority but she does use alot of common sense which is lacking in the general Christian culture regardless of what denomination one belongs to. When people speak, we need to use discernment regardless of where they got their education. Some of the most educated people can be the most stupid people when dealing with pastoral issues of the faith.

I think a religious leader who influences so many impressionable Christians should be educated and accountable to a Church. That is the reason why Joyce is using extra-biblical facts that she claims have been revealed to her. This is dangerous Gnostic doctrine that is NOT Christian and St. Paul was worried about.

Lol Aquinas and Augustine would help you if they were alive! Did you try asking a legitimate priest or pastor for help, or if you are not comfortable, a fellow Christian for advice? Joyce is just not trustworthy, if only for all the millions and tax-evasions she did!

It’s been said by come critics that she has no theological education but her website says she has a PhD from Life Christian University, in Tampa. Is this an inferior school or why do some of her critics say she’s uneducated?
Joyce Meyers is the latest from the Word of Faith movement. I use to be involved in that junk before becoming Catholic. She teaches a health/wealth/prosperity gospel. While she is appealing because she has a dramatic testimony, folksy style and comes off as practical, she is teaching error and heresy. What she teaches does not line up with Catholic teaching and Catholics do better in spending their time with more orthodox Catholic teaching. WoF stuff can be very deadly and leads people down a path that will be their undoing. I liken it to building your house on the sand and when the storms of life come and don’t go away by name it/claim it, your faith will be in serious trouble. I don’t know if her so called theology degree is valid or not but what she teaches is not valid and that should be enough for anyone not to listen to her, read her books or support her in any way.

Lol I was a Catholic my entire life. I never believed in Joyce Meyer, I only went to one of her conferences (endless and full of fluff) to support a friend. I’m never going to see a tele-evangelist again!
