It is parralell that Mary being sinless went to the Temple to fulfill Mosaic Code even though she didn’t have to, and Jesus who was sinless carried the cross even though he didn’t have to.

I say they didn’t have to because they both had their own free will.

Deeper down, what is equal and not necassarily parallel is that they both did God the Father’s will.
 
More important than free will is trust.

*But I have trusted in thy steadfast love;
my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
(Psalm 13:5)

When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he trusted to him who judges justly. (1 Peter 2:23)*

They both trusted the Father.
