Julius Caesar as a virtuous pagan among the Nine Worthies?

Hello my friends,
I have come to ask you today on the characterisation of Julius Caesar as being among the Nine Worthies, nine figures who were said to encompass the medieval standard of chivalry. Please do not assume that I hold anything against Caesar, quite the contrary, I just wonder what the attitude of the Church or even the people of medieval Europe had towards Caesar.

Julius Cesar lived long before medieval times…he was one of the world’s first dictators…
 
Only one third of the nine worthies were Christian. Christianity wasn’t a prerequisite for admiring heroes of the past. Dante even put Saladin, Avicenna, and Averroes in Limbo with the virtuous pagans.
