Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today, both in the Old Testament Reading and the Gospel, we hear the great joy of God’s work among His People! The birth of John the Baptist, the pre-cursor of Jesus, the Incarnate God, heralds the coming of the Savior, the Light for the nations. The last lines of the Gospel are a joyous reality, for we know who the Baby John came to be – The Voice crying in the wilderness, “Prepare the Way of the Lord”
After the birth of little Baby John, Mary contiued her own preparation for the Saviour to be born. In another six months we celebrate the birth of Jesus, born of the Virgin Mary – what immense, incredible “Joy to the World!” in His Birth! God Incarnate - The Word became Flesh and dwelt among us.
Mary’s response to Elzabeth’s praise of her faith can now be ours to pray with our Mother :

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord
my spirit rejoices in God my savior. (Luke 1: 46-47)
