To what degree do you think eating junk food counts as gluttony?

Regardless of what food it is, if you overeat to the point of making yourself sick, you are acting by means of gluttony.

You can’t be scrupulous about it. Food is food.

Similarly, if you only eat sugar for a month, you will make yourself sick. Moderation and variety.

Maybe I can reword my question to ask where do you draw the line with the amount of junk you eat?..This would differ for each individual considering some have health problems, some are more indulgent and others put more health precautions 🙂 these differences I assume will make the individual definition of gluttony distinct for everyone

Thanks for your reply btw 🙂

Sure, I understand.

Everyone is different with what they can tolerate. Some people, when they are young can eat junk food, seemingly all the time without causing harm.

If it makes you sick or unhealthy, then you know to cut back. If you’re overeating and getting very overweight, you know to cut back.

It’s not as though God says, “If you eat 400g of potato chips today you are sinning.” or “If you eat more than one piece of chocolate cake, you are a glutton.”

If it makes you sick, don’t do it. Then, you are inflicting harm upon yourself, which is what makes gluttony, gluttony.

God made us to eat. Just don’t eat until you get sick. Simple.

It depends: what’s your age and BMI.

Without knowing what constitutes “junk food” (and there are nutritionists who argue that no food is ‘junk’) and the reasons for consuming the food, I’d have to say there is none.
