I’m confused as well. Did you just apply for the license or did you actually have a civil ceremony?

Or are you saying that you applied for a marriage license and married civilly to be sure to use it before it’s expiration?
License you have to get the civil marriage within 30-60 days or it expires so its not legally binding. I posted this post not really understanding the whole marriage process, but thankfully I have found a priest who is working with me and will guide me through this process. I got a little too excited and I now see how erroneous I was in this whole thing, but will now be able to go about the process correctly.

👍👍 That is the best post I have read to date!

That deserves a congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

I am happy for glamourdoll, too. 🙂

I am glad that she will be having a church wedding.

I genuinely think that she was confused about the marriage license process, and what happens with a state/civil marriage.

All that she did was simply apply for the license, but somehow it confused her.

As I stated in my last post, in order to be married civilly in a court house, you have to go before the judge and exchange your vows. That is a separate process from applying for your license, anyway.

Indeed. But I have to wonder, about the intended groom - has his understanding of the process been equally off-course?
