Just who exactly is Sean Hannity

I used to like Hannity until he became just another Bush apologist.

I think Savage is good. . .sometimes.

Rush is pretty good most of the time, I enjoy listening to him.

The problem is that most of these ‘conservatives’ are simply singing Bush’s praises. Which is something I’m not very fond of.

I am so sick of talk radio. I can’t stand any of it.
I don’t need anyone to tell me what I think about politics or culture. And doing so just upsets me and wastes my energy. I would rather listen to catholic radio or country music.

The Pres needs someone, the main stream media are all liberal apologist’s!

Yeah Rush is hardly a Bush apologist, ever since Bush stopped acting like a true Reagan-conservative. He likes him, but will criticize Bush when it is needed.

I like Sean, but as soon as a liberal gets on the phone, he begins mocking them, which while amusing at times, is hardly constructive. Why even let them call in then?

The less conservative Bush acts, the less his own party likes him.

And either way, much of the left hates/loathes the man.

He of all people should realize appeasing your opposition will get you nowhere, especially if that isn’t truly what you stand for.

Hannity (Like Limbaugh) doesnt let facts get in the way of their shows.
Wrong. There are scores of people listening in to both shows (especially Rush’s) in the hope that there will be some error of fact they can harp on. Other than minor errors (dates and such) it has not happened yet. If it does you will see it on the front page of the NYT.

I am no pariticular Hanity fan.

However I just saw a video clip of the conversation.

And with all honestly, though Father Euteneur, was technically 100% correct his approch made it 100% wrong.

You see his approach was horendous and even moreso counterproductive to Sean and any human being watching.

Instead of getting exessively personal he may have used a more tactile approach to get his point across. Maybe saying something like saying…Why his personal opinon one the Iraq war does not reflex the opinion of Fox News Channel simply because he works for Fox. That while he may have a personal opinion he does not have the authority to state a “Fox” consensus simply because he “represents” Fox as an employee. Likewise, though he may have personal opinions on birth control he does not have any authority to mention a “Catholic” consensus because he does not have that authority.

By not approaching this in such a matter he turned the table on himself. Sounding extremely judgmental almost as if his main point was to belittle Hanity than to speak on the being discusssed.

Fr. Euteneur’s attitude wouldn’t fly even on EWTN much less on a secular non-catholic channel. I don’t understand what he was thinking. Sad. Reality is that though Hanity may have issues with the Church I’m not sure I can say he is a “Bad” Catholic. Maybe a poorly Cathecized Catholic which may be partially his own faut, but surely also the Church’s fault as well for being so lackadaisical regarding teaching the laity particular during the 20 years after Vatican II.

Judge for yourselves, and tell me what you think. domusdei.org/2007/03/11/hannity-video-now-on-youtube/

wait a minute … he’s a very bad catholic because he publicly opposes the Church’s teaching on birth control (and apparently many other issues as well). if he doesn’t agree with the Church’s teaching he should at least refrain from publicly saying so, or else stop calling himself a catholic.

what he is doing is muddying the waters and making it seem as if certain of the Church’s teachings are “optional”. they are not, and his cafeteria behavior makes it all the more difficult for sincere catholics who are trying to follow the Church’s teaching on birth control.

but the icing on the cake for me is his rude treatment of the priest he invited on his show. apparently hannity has no respect for anything or anyone.

I listen to Sean during the day and when I am not carpooling on the way home. I am a conservative but I am not as fond of President Bush as to give him a consistently clear slate like Sean or Rush.
I don’t hear Sean on radio. But I think the main thing both Rush and Sean agree with the president on is the war on Islamic terrorism. I can’t say about Sean, but Rush frequently takes Bush to task for some of the things he has done. So have I.

The issue is not Hanity, though his personal boasting is really quite pathetic. Martin Luther was a Catholic Priest, yet among the biggest heretics of all time. So what do I care about him attending seminary or studing latin.

It doesn’t get any more pathetic, than when he implicates he did the God and his church a favor for not leaving the Church.

In that sense it may have been better for him to renouce being Catholic than claiming being Catholic, yet picking an choosing what he desire to believe as if he had the authority of Christ through Peter to bind and loosen.

That said, Fr. Euteneuer, disrespected the position of Hanity’s local bishop. It was not his position to be so direct as to say he would deny him communion in a Mass he celebrated.

I think Father apparently became a bit over zealous regarding Pope Benedicts recent apostolic exhortation SACRAMENTUM CARITATIS. Where Benedict XVI states certain public official specifically “Catholic polititians and legislators” could potentially be denied communion. However it would be up to their local bishop to take such an action. see Paragraph 83 of S. CARITATIS vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/apost_exhortations/documents/hf_ben-xvi_exh_20070222_sacramentum-caritatis_en.html .

Additioinally, though Hanity is ignorantly or purposefully defying the teachings of the Church he is not a politician or legislator. Public officials which not only openly contradict the Church, but have the power to impliment an action directly against the Church teachings.

I listen to Sean, not as much as I used to. I also agree that he often doesnt add anything new - if you listen to Rush at 12, and then Sean at 3 you pretty much hear Sean cover all the same ground.

Sometimes he gets on rants and I just cant listen. I have to say tho, that I really liked his coverage during the Terri Schiavo case. For that coverage alone, I give him somewhat of a pass. But it does make me upset to hear his abortion/priest marriage stance.

He’s a bit of a broken record. I used to watch him but now he just uses the same old rant over and over. He is REALLY in love with George W. and utterly blinded by loyalty.
Too bad he places more loyalty on a mortal man, than on the Holy Catholic Church he states he belongs to, but defies its very authority on matter of faith and morals.

I don’t get it. What is the point in calling yourself Catholic or any other religion if you pick and choose the beliefs to you person desires. He has got to understand the Our Father, states “your will be done.” not the other way around. Many American cultural Catholics, as Fr. Euteneuer well stated, have got to get rid of this “have it your way” mentality/heresy.

what i also found disturbing about this whole episode, was that apparently fox has a paid consultant who is a catholic priest in rome who stuck by hannity and dismissed father euteneuer!

his name is father jonathan morris – he’s a vice rector for the Legionnaires of Christ seminary. I guess his paycheck and tv gig from fox news is more important than his devotion to our Mother Church and her teachings.

from lifesite website:

*Probably the saddest chapter of the event was Fox News publishing an open letter to Sean Hannity by Father Jonathan Morris, a regular news contributor for the fox News Channel. Fr. Morris, vice rector for the Legionnaries of Christ seminary in Rome, wrote that when he saw the program, “I hung my head in shame and sadness.” Fr. Morris continued, “My colleague in religion (whom I’ve never met) used the public airways and Internet to call you a heretic and hypocrite. Because he chose to do this in a public forum, I want you and your viewers to know, publicly, that as an analyst of this television network, I believe this good priest, who does great work, exercised, on this occasion, shockingly poor judgment. I consider his willingness to give his personal opinion about your status within the Church inappropriate and ill-considered, to say the least.”

In an open letter responding to Fr. Morris, Fr. Euteneuer wrote: “Your letter to Sean Hannity indicates that you did not know that I asked to speak to him in private about this matter in 2004 otherwise you may have tempered your remarks about my supposed lack of charity in dealing with a high profile Catholic who dissents from clearly-defined and reiterated Church teachings.”

“May I also point out,” added Fr. Euteneuer, “that you did not employ with me the same standard of “fraternal correction” that you expected me to employ with Mr. Hannity. I at least made the attempt to speak to him about this issue in private without success; you, in contrast, went immediately to the internet to take me to task.” *

Ever since this incident I find I am utterly unable to listen to Sean. I’ve always thought he sounds like a carnival barker, and it really bothers me that he seems to have gotten away with treating Fr. Euteneuer as he did with no repercussions.

Couldn’t stand him from the first time I saw him. All air no substance. I liked Combs much better.

Rush, please…another all air no substance.

Savage…no way.

I like Bill. I don’t think he is all full of himself. He is fair and balanced.

My DH likes Laurie Dhue…but that’s another story. 😃
