After a frenzied day of appeals, Missouri officials won a last-minute stay Friday night from the U.S. Supreme Court that blocked a federal judge’s order that would have required corrections officials to take an inmate to a St. Louis abortion clinic today.

Supreme Court declines to block abortion for Missouri inmate

The U.S. Supreme Court this morning cleared the final obstacle that will allow a Missouri prison inmate to receive an abortion that has been delayed for weeks by a new prison policy barring elective abortions for prisoners.
