I wasn’t watching the NBC coverage, but the CBC’s coverage of Justin Gatlin’s gold win in the 100 meter. After receiving the congratulations of his favored teammate, he walked away a distance and right in front of a handheld camera, knelt down, folded his hands, closed his eyes and made a very definite prayer of thanks, then looking upward, he crossed himself.
Recently I had lunch with an older lady, Catholic, who expressed her surprise when I said grace before eating lunch. She said I was the first person she had ever seen to say grace before a meal in a restaurant. I was surprised someone of her age would never have seen that before.
What are your experiences and thoughts about making no secret of your faith? I believe Justin Gatlin just showed the world much more than how fast he could run. The CBC commentators had not a syllable to say.
