Not my brother (only brother) but my parents and my aunts and uncles on my mother’s side are.

Do you still have a relationship with your parents? I heard somewhere that jw’s aren’t allowed to stay in contact with ex-jw’s.

Isn’t it horrible what these jw “leaders” are capable of? And all in the name of - what? Money? Power?
I feel very sorry for people that are caught up in it. Guess they really need our prayers!

that is true. jw’s are not allowed to keep in touch with those who are disassociated or disfellowshipped. yes it is extremely horrible what the governing body dictates to its members. it really is! they have torn countless families apart. that is beyond despicable! according to them, “bad associations spoil useful habits” they mean their habits that is. they do need our prayers, the sheep that is.

I haven’t seen my parents in 25 years. It’s only been in the last 7 to 8 years that I have made a serious attempt to reconcile with them. I email with my dad a few times a year. It’s very superficial contact.

I don’t think it’s over money. I think the JW’s think that they are 100% correct and therefore their actions are in tune with what they believe. It is sad to think, to know, that this group has had such a devastating effect on its followers and their families.

The organization lives out their teachings of disposable relationships. Their ideology isn’t relational because their god isn’t relational. When a group of people that claims to be Christian denies the relational aspects of Deity, what else can follow?

they are punishing us for our own good. loving us to death.
When I was a JW I was not allowed to have anything to do with any of my family who were not JWs, then when I left the JWs were not allowed to have anything to do with me…so I ended up with no family.

In the US they have won the right to knock on your door regardless of No Soliciting or No Trespassing signs posted–they are not soliciters or trespassers. The Supreme Court has determined they are Evangelizers and they are legally there.

I understand they don’t need to get a permit, however my right as a homeowner, I don’t want them coming to my door. You are saying if I post “No JW’s please” they can’t knock on my door. What about no trespassing signs, they can violate my property rights because of the 1st Amendment?

If you make it known you don’t want them coming up to your door then they cannot. If you don’t make it known then they can. The ruling not only applies to the JW’s (and Mormons) but also to anyone doing political stuff, poles, questionnaires, etc.

Of course the burden of proof is on the home owner. If you make the requests get it in writing and then if you are still being bothered you will have legal recourse against the local congregation.

JW’s don’t look to litigate because they have nothing better to do, so if you make it known they wont knock on your door.

I would suggest that the Catholics get themselves well prepared in the Scriptures and start going and knocking at the doors of the JWs, if they are on the truth,politely and peacefully.
