K-Love

I was wondering if it’s okay for a Catholic to listen to the Christian radio station K-Love? I do love the songs and the things they share. It’s all Christian oriented and very inspirational. The only downside is that the radio station is run by Protestant/Evangelicals, so there is literally no mention of anything Catholic. I wish there was a Catholic version of K-Love.

I suppose there might be a few songs with lyrics that would be objectionable theologically. The local Christian radio station for my area is pretty light on theology and most of the songs are straight praise and worship. Nothing wrong with Catholics listening to that type of music.

Me, too! I enjoy EWTN radio immensely but sometimes I wish there was a Catholic version of K-Love for music for when I’m not in the mood for talk radio.

We have Christian radio stations as well, they give Bible Quotes during commercial breaks,

I loved tuning in to .Christian music and talk radio when I was in Austin, TX in the late 1900s.

I can’t think of anything particularly counter to Catholicism in the music.

When I lived in Brooklyn, I used to listen to WFME. It played the beautiful old hymns of Watts, Wesley, and many others. Since moving to Santa Fe, I can’t find a traditional hymn station, so now I listen to HYMN Radio on the computer. On 365. It’s not praised and worship, it’s not contemporary, but the words and tunes are sooooo great!

In an old thread I mentioned hearing the DJ’s on the local station making some derogatory comments about Catholics. Not full-blown offensive, but mildly anti-Catholic. I thought it was K-Love DJ’s making the statements and quit listening for the longest time. I later found out that the station was making a gradual transition to K-Love at the time and was still carrying the local talent for a good portion of the day so the offending comment more likely originated locally. I’ve listened to K-Love a bit since then and haven’t heard anything that bothered me, other than not liking some of the music. I stick with my MP3 player, mostly.
