Would the Kakure Kirishitan be considered Christian?

If they are baptised correctly they are Christians, Christians who have lived in the dark to long perhaps but still Christians none the less.

It kind of sounds to me like a hybrid between Christianity and Hare Kirshna. I tried doing a yahoo search on it and came up with nothing. Actually, when I first read the post, I though you were referring to the Kardashians.

The were “Hidden Christians” in Japan that went underground in the 1600s because of persecution. One of the bloggers that I read (can’t remember which one just now) linked to an article about them with some pictures of the shrines and churches they would use.

Most of them entered the Catholic Church once missionaries were allowed back in, those who did not seem to have a syncretic belief system that may or may not be Christian.
