I just saw three debates where Keating was in it.
  1. Debate against Dave Hunt in a show where it was the host’s birthday (forgot what it’s called). He did well in that. 6-4
  2. Debate against Ron Rosenbaldt (?). 5-5. Good debate.
  3. Debate against Iglesia ni Christo. That’s the worst debate I have ever seen. As a Filipino, I just hated the way the Iglesia person argued. It was really really dumb. He interrupted Keating whenever he talked and would ask the same stupid questions over and over again. “Is Peter the rock or foundation stone?” “I did not say if he was rock or massive rock. I asked if he was a foundation stone.” (sigh)

No, these are old. The Iglesia one is with a cult similar to the Jehovah’s Witnesses (in other words, they are Arian). Catholic Answers used to offer it. I believe that debate was late 1980s. One of Karl’s first formal debates.

Keating has debated Hunt a couple times in the past, at least one (their last one I think) is available from Hunt. I was lucky to have helped arrange one (Herman Bailey host Action Sixties, TV and radio). The Keating-Hunt debates (from memory) that I know of

1989 KKLA radio – I give the edge to Keating

1993 “Action Sixties” TV Tampa Bay (1 hour) and radio (2 hours) – again Keating wins

1993 or 94 on radio I believe topic was strictly sola scriptura – edge to Keating

Nov 1994 formal debate – I give edge to Hunt simply because he threw out all the lies he had in A Woman Rides the Beast which was recently published, and Keating couldn’t respond to everything. This is the one Hunt still offers and is available on video. The audience was pro-Hunt as well, I believe a high school gym filled with Fundamentalists if memory serves. So the “deck was stacked” against Karl on this one.

I should convert some of these radio ones I have on cassette tape to MP3 sometime, they are decent.

The Rosenbladt-Keating debate was also very good. Topic was justification, and Rosenbladt (Lutheran) was a gentleman, tried to accurately represent Catholic teaching, unlike Hunt. Moderated by Gretchen Passantino of Answers in Actions (friends of Hank and CRI). This used to be offered by Catholic Answers as well, called “The Justification Debate” or some such. Also 1989 if memory serves.

Karl kinda “retired” from debating after his “loss” with Hunt. He also debated Bart Brewer and Bill Jackson in the early days of Catholic Answers. Got those tapes too.
