Forgive me if this isn’t the correct forum.

Every once in awhile I hop over to the SecWeb (www.infidels.org) to see what’s going on and they have a poll where they mention Karl Keating. The person who voted for him doesn’t give any explanation.

I didn’t know Mr. Keating had a following over there!

What idiots.

Ripping on St.Paul about not knowing about Judaism. Morons.

One poster even had the audacity to name St. Paul as the most dishonest apologist, for allegedly mangling the Old Testament to fit his own teachings, as though he knew much more about the Old Testament than Paul himself, a Jew. Intellectual arrogance is far worse than dishonesty.

I am sure he feels proud…
I believe it is an honor to be even named on that list. It simply means these people on the list are the very people the atheists/agnostics feel are significant enough to deserve their attention.

Not only was Paul a Jew, he was a Pharisee.

Wow. There’s some intense bullcrap to be found on that website. Notice the picture of the Thinker statue on their main page…I wonder if they realize that the Thinker is doing his thinking from hell.

Intresting that some of the political posts there read the same as the ones the liberal Catholics post here. :hmmm: .

For some reason or another, the originator of this thread decided to include Karl Keating. I don’t know why, because, to be honest, Karl Keating is not on the radar of atheists for the same reason that Jimmy Akin isn’t: He mainly focuses on Protestant attacks, not secular ones. Peter Kreeft, however, is known to atheists, especially for his *Handbook of Christian Apologetics.

*The Secular Web has a list of Christian apologists along with some possible rebuttals to their writings here.

Karl Keating would most likely be on this list if he were on the atheist radar.

It is also important not to take one atheist’s words, in this case regarding Paul, and then think that all atheists must think this way and then lump them all together as idiots or morons. Yes, there are some idiotic and ignorant posters on the Secular Web, but one can and should distinguish between them and the more knowledgeable posters.

Finally, Auguste Rodin’s famous sculpture The Thinker is not a permanent image on the Secular web arrogantly signifying that all atheists are extremely deep thinkers and smarter than the non-thinking theists. The web site is merely using the image as a link for an article written by Richard Carrier regarding the recent conversion to theism of the well-known philosopher and now former atheist Anthony Flew.

Oh that’s not why all atheists are idiots or morons. The fact alone that they are atheists makes them idiots or morons.

Lets play a simple game.
Lets say the atheist is right what happens we me and the atheist die? nothing.
Now back to the really real world we both die what happens? Well at least I have a chance. Senior atheist? Eternal damnation.

Pascal’s Wager would not convert or scare even a half-wit atheist into a Christian.

Not true,
The fear of God does scare people into Christianity. It also keeps them there once there.

Not fearing your creator, is what may termed half-witted. 🙂

What benefit is granted by being an atheist?

It’s pure, unadulterated idiocy.

People in general are scared by the thought of the gods and afterlife punishments. However, no gods exist for the atheist. There is nothing to fear.

My point was that a reasonably informed atheist will not be frightened by flawed scare tactics such as Pascal’s Wager.

Bad website, I gave it my fullest attention, 2 seconds 😃 it’s a work of fiction, and I haven’t read fiction since primary school.
Actually there are worse sites than this, but I wouldn’t like to give them the honour of increasing their hits.

People do not become atheists because it is beneficial. At least they shouldn’t. People become atheists because they are unable to escape what they consider to be great evidence that demands what is contrary to religious beliefs.

The benefit is living life as you please, some of them maybe lukewarm.
