Keeping the Lord's day...

I just read an article on fisheaters.com/lordsday.html talking about keeping the Lord’s day.

Do any of you out there do anything (or not do anything) to keep the catholic sabbath holy?

It’s a beautiful tradition I’d like to start to keep. Even though I don’t have any family here where I am; perhaps I could invite some friends over for a meal after mass on sundays.

What do you people out there do?

Every one that is Catholic, should keep the Lords day,for it is the 4th Commanment,
( Remember to keep Holy the Lord,s day ).but people say I work and can,t make it, but Churches have differtant times and days,like Sat or Sun. We just need to make a little sacitice, thats all. back n the early times, between the 60,s and 70,s, people would gather and invite people to join them for dinner,today it seems not to many family do this any more.

My family attends 8 am Mass then we get home and prepare a meal to be ready for 12 noon. My parents always observed Sunday as a day of rest and visiting or having relatives over. A family Rosary after supper. So many of my family and friends think that as long as they go to Mass on the weekend, the day is for them to do what they want. I am tempted to copy the fisheaters article and mail it out! I think we all need reminders from time to time. Thank you for your post, God bless.

I agree with you! Apart from being a beautiful thing to do…it IS a commandment! But I would say that in today’s day and age few are the people who actually observe.

For my part I went grocery shopping today and have invited a few friends over for a meal after mass tomorrow.

As a child I remember having sunday lunch with the entire family…I miss those days.

Would you say that those that keep the lords day are mostly Traditionalists or New Order Catholics? Or does it really depend

I’m curious to know if your family are traditionalists? I love the part about the family rosary after supper! Sounds so warm and familiar!
